PKWSC Water Treatment Plant

CLIENT: Possum Kingdom Water Supply Corporation
LOCATION: Possum Kingdom Lake, TX

eHT provided planning and design of a $14 million regional water treatment plant (WTP) and distribution system for potable water to serve the Possum Kingdom Water Supply Corporation (PKWSC). eHT developed, in cooperation with the TCEQ, an innovative approach to providing potable water to the residents and commercial businesses around Possum Kingdom Lake in North-Central Texas. PKWSC had multiple non-compliant, private, small systems using Possum Kingdom Lake water that contained high levels of chlorides, sulfates and total dissolved solids (TDS). PKWSC consolidated the small systems and constructed a new water intake, water filtration and reverse osmosis (RO) plant and distribution system, all planned and designed by eHT, to reduce chlorides, sulfates and TDS and provide potable water meeting State and Federal standards. Funding was provided jointly by Rural Development and the TWDB DWSRF program. The PKWSC project received the EPA 2006 DWSRF Award for Sustainable Public Health Protection.

eHT also provided planning and design of a $3 million regional WTP expansion for potable water to serve PKWSC. While the original plant construction included both conventional filtration and RO treatment, eHT designed the new expansion around a new microfiltration (MF) filtration system and new RO treatment trains. By incorporating MF filtration into the expansion, eHT continues to maintain a design approach with consideration toward innovative technologies, which will continue to provide high quality potable water to the residents and commercial businesses around Possum Kingdom Lake. The new WTP expansion, all planned and designed by eHT will continue to meet system water demands while still reducing chlorides, sulfates and TDS to meet State and Federal standards for potable water. Funding was provided jointly by PKWSC private funds and the TWDB’s DWSRF program.

“I have worked with the eHT professional staff for over six years and I have nothing but very good things to say. I can immediately talk to anyone. eHT provides terrific design; our system works wonderful. I can’t say enough good things about eHT’s inspection and technical staff and I would highly recommend eHT. They are very conscious of budget and time issues.”
