The City of Alamo addressed improvements for its aging lagoon wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) which received multiple violations from TCEQ. Many of these violations were due to insufficient effluent quality, such as total suspended solids (TSS) concentration and biochemical oxygen demand (BODs) concentration limits. eHT partnered with Quintanilla Headley & Associates to provide engineering services and implemented a new Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) secondary treatment plant within an existing stabilization pond to eliminate the need for purchasing additional property to construct the new SBR treatment plant.
Improvements included screening, flow metering, grit removal, influent flow equalization, a SBR secondary treatment system, effluent disinfection, solids handling, mechanical dewatering (volute or dewatering press), a SCADA system and electrical improvements.
