City of Abilene Water Meter Replacement and AMI Project

CLIENT: City of Abilene
LOCATION: Abilene, TX

eHT provided project management and design for the construction of water system improvements to replace existing water meters and to deploy a fixed-network Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system within the City of Abilene (City). The project included coordination of 43,500 water meters and various AMI system components. The project allowed the City to read meters remotely without having to access each and every meter located inside meter boxes in the ground. The devices allowed for more accurate and faster collection of water usage readings and helped the City better serve customers to improve the overall efficiency of the utility department. The project was funded through the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF).
